An original rock and roll singer from the fifties, a talented harmonica player, a Sun label recording artist, a session musician, a record producer and a songwriter, Billy Lee Riley’s name had disappeared from the charts and from most people’s memories when he recorded this, an album of instrumental versions of 1965’s biggest “folk rock” hit songs.
His biggest hits as a rock ‘n’ roll singer were “Red Hot” and “Flying Saucers Rock ‘N’ Roll” (featuring Jerry Lee Lewis on piano).
